Gorilla Habituation Experience In Uganda – Spend More Time With The Gorillas
The Gorilla Habituation Experience has no recognized definition. Nonetheless, it can be referred to as the process of acclimating untamed gorillas to the presence of humans. It takes two to three years for several groups of people, including trackers, conservationists, researchers, and rangers, to complete this habituation experience.
The Uganda Wildlife Authority offers this educational exercise on a small basis, and it has only just grown into a reliable activity. Bookings for this type of activity must be made six months before the actual habituation day, notably during the months of December through March and July through October, as this experience only allows a maximum of four people per day.Habituation of mountain gorillas
Gorilla Habituation gives visitors four hours to spend with the gorillas, whereas Gorilla Trekking only permits an hour-long encounter. Additionally, each individual must pay US$1500 for the Habituation experience, which is slightly more expensive than the US$600 paid for gorilla tracking.
This type of encounter is only found inside Uganda’s boundaries at the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, while it is scarce in Rwanda and/or the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Nearly eleven habituated Ugandan gorilla safari groups can be found here, including Habinyanja, Rushegura, and Mubare, which are located at Buhoma, north of the park; Mishaya, Bweza, Nshonji, Kahungye, Busingye, and the Nkuringo gorilla group, located at Rushaga, south.
The Bitukura, Kyaguriro, and Oruzogo gorilla groups are located far out in the east near Ruhija. Only two of these groups—at Nkuringo and Rushaga—were designated as the gorilla families that could be habituated, nevertheless. People gain a deeper understanding of each gorilla individually during this process, learn about their activities, and even go so far as to name each one.
A simulated exercise is conducted as a means of verifying the researchers’ findings if they are confident that the wild gorillas are comfortable with human presence. The gorilla troop becomes eligible for gorilla trekking once the primates pass this type of test, which now includes scientists and journalists.
